1. Objetivo do Jogo
In Enseada dos Mercadores – A Criadora de Dragões, you play as Dwelma Draketooth, a seventh‑generation dragon rancher. Your goal is to raise and sell dragons while managing the ranch’s resources. The game ends when the Final Scoring phase is triggered (see section 5). At that point, each player tallies points from:
- Dragon Goods sold during the Market Phase.
- Gold earned from Sponsorship icons revealed on Stumps.
- Faction icons on Townsfolk cards that grant Gold at final scoring.
The player with the highest total score wins. If a player reaches a predetermined score threshold before the final phase, they may trigger an early end (not detailed in the provided text). Consult the manual for exact victory conditions.
2. Preparação (Setup)
- Place the Dragon Rancher Shop board, Staff board, and Dragon Pen in front of you.
- For each Stump on the Ranch board, place a matching colored Tree token over it. Then place one matching colored Food disc and one white Food disc onto each Tree.
- Put the remaining Food discs (6 red, 6 green, 4 blue, 4 yellow) into the Feeding bag.
- Arrange the four Poop tokens in a pyramid on the Dump space.
- Keep the Small Dragons (small Goods), Large Dragons (large Goods), and Mega Dragons (mega Goods) nearby, ready for use.
- Place the Dragon Rancher figure on the Activate Staff action space.
3. Fluxo do Jogo
The game proceeds in turns, each consisting of the following phases in order:
- Activate Staff (2 Hours) – You may activate any Staff Ability assigned to a Townsfolk card.
- Draw & Place 3+ Food (2 Hours) – Draw Food until you have 3 matching or 3 different colors, then place a trail of Food on the Ranch board following placement rules.
- Eat & Grow (2 Hours) – Hatch, move, and grow Dragons as many times as you wish, provided each action is legal.
- Shovel Poop (1 Hour) – Remove all Poop from Ranch spaces and return them to the Dump.
- Chop Down a Tree (2 Hours) – Remove a Tree, recover its Food, and uncover a new Ranch space with a Stump.
- Market Phase – Sell Dragons in the Pen for Gold, and collect Gold from Sponsorship icons revealed on Stumps.
- Final Scoring – Triggered by a specific event (not detailed); players tally points and determine the winner.
Each phase consumes the specified number of Hours, which are tracked on the Staff board. The order above reflects the sequence described in the manual. If any phase is omitted in a particular turn (e.g., no Trees to chop), simply skip that action and proceed to the next.
4. Ações e Como Jogar
Draw & Place 3+ Food (2 Hours)
1. Draw Food: Draw from the Feeding bag until you have either 3 matching colored Food or 3 different colored Food. You always draw at least 3 Food.
2. Place Food: Starting from any legal Ranch space, place a trail of Food onto orthogonally adjacent spaces, one at a time. Rules:
- Each Food must be placed onto an orthogonally adjacent Ranch space from the previous Food.
- You may not reverse onto the last space placed.
- Each Ranch space can hold up to 2 Food (stacked).
- You cannot place Food onto a space that already has 2 Food, a Dragon, Poop, a Tree, or the Dump, nor can you cross a Stump line.
- If you cannot place a Food, return the excess to the Feeding bag.
White Food is special: set them aside when drawing; they do not count toward the limit of Food drawn.
Shovel Poop (1 Hour)
Remove all Poop from Ranch spaces and return them to the Dump. The Dump is not a normal Ranch space; Food and Dragons cannot be placed or moved into it.
Chop Down a Tree (2 Hours)
1. Remove the 2 Food from a Tree on your Ranch and place them into your Feeding bag. Each Tree contains 1 matching colored Food and 1 white Food.
2. Remove the Tree from your Ranch board. This uncovers a new Ranch space and reveals a Stump with a matching colored Market Phase Sponsorship icon.
Eat & Grow (2 Hours)
During an Eat & Grow action, you may perform the following steps repeatedly, as long as each is legal:
- Hatch a Dragon: Select a Ranch space with at least 1 Food. Remove the Food and return it to the Feeding bag. Place a Dragon into that space:
- If there was 1 Food, place a matching colored Small Dragon.
- If there were 2 Food, place a Large Dragon matching the color of the topmost Food.
- Move & Grow a Dragon: Starting from a Ranch space with a Dragon, trace a path around your Ranch, moving the Dragon as you go. Rules:
- A Dragon can only enter a space if the Food (or topmost Food) matches the Dragon’s color.
- Dragons move orthogonally.
- Dragons cannot move through Trees, Stumps, other Dragons, or Poop.
- Dragons eat all Food in the spaces they enter, return the Food to the Feeding bag, and grow exactly one size for each Food eaten.
- Any excess Food is returned to the Feeding bag with no further effect.
- Designate a Dragon for Sale: Move a Dragon from your Ranch to your Pen. Place 1 Poop from the Dump into the Dragon’s previous Ranch space. If no Poop remains in the Dump, instead draw 1 Corruption card.
Mega Dragons are considered mega Goods and may only be sold at the Black Market Pier. Selling a Mega Dragon forces you to draw 1 Corruption card.
Activate Staff (2 Hours)
Activate each Staff Ability that has a Townsfolk assigned to it, in any order you wish. The abilities available are:
- Shepherd: Hatch and/or Move and Grow 1 Dragon. Then you may Designate a Dragon for Sale any number of times.
- Ranch Hand: Draw and place 2 Food from the Feeding bag.
- Field Hand: Move the Food/Poop/Dragon from any one Ranch space to any other empty Ranch space.
- Security: Choose and discard 1 Corruption card from your supply.
Recruiting Townsfolk from the Town Square allows you to assign them to Staff Abilities. Most Townsfolk have Faction icons that grant Gold during Final Scoring.
5. Fim de Jogo e Pontuação
The game ends when the Final Scoring phase is triggered (the manual does not specify the exact trigger; consult the rulebook). At that point, each player tallies points as follows:
- Gold from Sold Goods: Each Dragon sold during the Market Phase contributes Gold equal to its size (Small, Large, Mega).
- Gold from Sponsorship Icons: For each Sponsorship icon revealed on a Stump during the Market Phase, you gain the corresponding amount of Gold.
- Faction Gold: Any Faction icons on Townsfolk cards grant Gold at final scoring.
The player with the highest total score wins. If there is a tie, consult the manual for tie‑breaker rules.
6. Dicas para Vencer
- Use White Food Wisely: White Food can grow or hatch any color of Dragon and does not count toward drawing limits. Keep them aside when drawing to maximize your options.
- Plan Your Food Trails: When placing Food, aim to create long, legal trails that allow you to hatch or move multiple Dragons in a single Eat & Grow action.
- Manage Poop and Corruption: Shoveling Poop regularly prevents the Dump from filling up, which would otherwise force you to draw Corruption cards when designating Dragons for sale.
