About the game
What you do in a play session
Picture yourself at a table with friends, each holding a small card that, to your surprise, has the suit revealed on the back. That’s the core idea of Negaeri Friends, a trick‑taking game that blends strategy, luck, and a dash of unpredictability. The twist starts right on the card itself: the suit is visible on the back, so no one can be blindsided. On top of that, the trump changes randomly every trick, forcing players to adapt on the fly.
When a player follows the current suit, they can choose to play the card face‑up or face‑down. If they can’t follow suit, the rule is simple: play it face‑up. This choice adds a layer of tension, because playing face‑down can hide a powerful card, but it can also cost the trick if you lose. The winner of each trick collects only the face‑up cards, while the face‑down cards are placed in a special pile in front of the player who played them.
At the end of each hand, every winning card is worth one point. But there’s a second layer of scoring: the face‑down cards are revealed, and the player who has the highest total value in each suit receives two extra points. This “value‑sum” mechanic encourages players to think beyond the immediate trick, aiming to maximize points across suits.
The game is designed for 3 to 5 players and lasts about 20 minutes per round, making it perfect for quick sessions and for those who enjoy a lighthearted yet decision‑rich experience. The combination of visible suits, random trumps, and double‑point scoring turns Negaeri Friends into a fun gathering for kids and adults who love trick‑taking games with a touch of surprise and strategy.
