Imagine Retrocity during the Great Depression: a place where the law was whoever held the power, and Don Picolotto's iron fist kept organized crime in check. But everything changed when the Big Boss was poisoned, leaving a dangerous power vacuum. Now, four mafia families are at war, and you are the leader of one of them. The goal is simple yet brutal: dominate the streets and become the new Don of the city. To win, you can't rely on luck alone; you'll need a sharp strategy combining tactical map movement and intelligent card usage.
The game features a modular board, meaning the city is never the same. With each session, the layout changes, forcing you to adapt your attack and defense plans. The heart of the game lies in the 60-card deck, divided into three types: Action, Equipment, and Building. While all cards offer special effects that can flip the game, Action and Equipment cards are your primary weapons in direct combat against rivals. This is where hand management comes into play: knowing the right moment to play a powerful card or save equipment for a pinch is what separates a henchman from a true gangster.
With games lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, the pace is brisk. At first, players might take a moment to grasp the rules, but once the gears start turning, the atmosphere heats up. Betrayals, surprise attacks, and territory disputes make the experience increasingly wild. If you enjoy the vibe of mafia movies, where diplomacy lasts only until the first bullet flies, O Gângster de Retrocity delivers that tension in a dynamic and competitive way. Get your henchmen ready, organize your resources, and try not to be the next victim of a poisoning!
