Get ready to dive into Longsdale at the end of the Middle Ages, where you take on the role of a master artisan. In Oh My Goods!, your goal is simple on paper but challenging in practice: transform raw materials into high-value goods to dominate the market. From barrels and bricks to glass and clothing, you'll need to assemble efficient production chains to avoid falling behind in the race for victory points.
The game is a constant exercise in planning and management. You don't just buy resources; you must decide the exact order of your actions through an action queue. Do you want to hire assistants to speed up your work? Do you want to build new establishments to expand your influence? All of this requires precise hand management, as many cards serve multiple purposes. The dilemma is constant: do I use this card as a resource now or save it to build something bigger later?
Beyond the strategy, there's a touch of risk. The 'push your luck' system adds a delicious tension, where you decide how far to push your luck to maximize gains without crashing and burning. The game moves quickly, and the tension rises as players race to build their structures. The game enters the final round as soon as someone completes 8 buildings (including their starting Charburner). In the end, the player who best planned their infrastructure and accumulated the most points through assistants and buildings wins.
Designed by Alexander Pfister, the genius behind hits like Great Western Trail and Isle of Skye, Oh My Goods! delivers the depth of an economic game in a compact and dynamic format. It's the perfect game for those who love optimizing every small detail of their production and watching their artisanal empire grow, all within a fast-paced and cerebral session.
