About the game
What you do in a play session
The ritual has begun - and only teamwork can prevent a supernatural apocalypse. In Onryō: First Seal, you and up to 4 friends become ninjas from different clans joining forces against a vengeful Japanese spirit. This fast-paced (15-30 min) tactical cooperative game requires perfect synchronization of every grid movement and card play. The Onryō, a powerful ghost born from betrayal, is recruiting Yōkai creatures - if she gets 8, it's game over for humanity. The catch? Communication is limited, so coordination feels like a blind dance where one wrong step triggers monstrous abilities. In Tatari Mode (for gluttons of punishment), each recruited monster empowers the Onryō and disrupts plans with random effects. Expect intense matches, real-time decisions, and that sweet taste of victory against all odds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
Is the solo mode actually good?
Yes! It's well designed, letting you control multiple ninjas with adapted rules. Proper challenge included.
How does it differ from Onryō: Seeking Solace?
First Seal is a centuries-earlier prequel with simpler mechanics and focus on quick matches.
Do miniatures need painting?
Nope - they come colored. But painters will love the detailed sculpts for customization.
Is it too hard for kids?
Depends on the kid! Strategic depth is real, but the ninja theme helps. Best for 12+.
How many different boards are included?
3 unique maps, each requiring completely different tactical approaches.
What makes Tatari Mode 'hardcore'?
Beyond empowering the Onryō, recruited monsters trigger random effects that wreck your plans!
