How to Play Orléans: Invasion
Game Objective
Dark rumors about an impending invasion are spreading around the country! In this cooperative scenario for 2-5 players, your team must fortify Orléans by completing Common Objectives and Personal Objectives before the invasion arrives. The game ends when the "Invasion" Hour Glass Tile is revealed. If all objectives are complete by then, you win. If even one objective remains unfinished, the team loses.
Setup
Set up the base game with these changes:
- Place the two-part "City Defense" board next to the main board.
- Use only specified Place Tiles (e.g., Black Market, Vineyard, Tavern) and separate them into stacks I and II.
- Prepare the Hour Glass Tiles: Shuffle stacks A and B separately, then draw 9x A and 8x B for 2-3 players (8x A and 7x B for 4-5 players). Stack them in order: C (bottom), B, A (top).
- Place Citizen Tiles on designated spaces (e.g., Supply Spaces for Grain/Cheese/Wine, "Le Blanc" on the map).
- Place Special Building tiles on outer towns (those with transparent paths leading outward).
- In 2-3 player games, place Fortified Towers (Trading Stations in unused colors) in specified towns.
- Each player draws a Character Card (e.g., Councilman, Fisherman) with a unique Personal Objective.
- Remove base game Hour Glass Tiles and Beneficial Deeds—they’re not used.

Game Flow
The game lasts 16 rounds (18 for 4-5 players). Each round follows the base game rules, except:
- No Census phase.
- Players collaborate during the Planning Phase to discuss actions.
- New Hour Glass Tiles trigger events (some are team challenges).
Key actions:
- Vehicle: Send up to 3 Goods to the City or another player.
- Guild House: Send up to 4 Coins to the City or another player.
- Hostel: Send a Follower to another player’s board.
- Palatinate: Use another player’s activated action (they return Followers to their bag).
Actions and How to Play
Team Actions
- Achievements: Complete 5 tasks (e.g., Catapult requires sending Technology Tiles). Use the Town Hall or Gunpowder Tower to contribute.
- Common Objectives: Must be completed in any order:
- City Walls: Place Knights (5 for 2 players, up to 13 for 5 players).
- Warehouse: Fill with Goods (e.g., 6 Grain for 2 players).
- Fortified Towers: Build in every outer town using the Guildhall action.
Personal Objectives
Each Character Card has unique requirements. Examples:
- Librarian: Reach Development Track space 5+ and build 4+ Place Tiles.
- Mayor: Have 10+ Coins and 2 Citizen Tiles.
- Estate Manager: Pay escalating penalties each round (e.g., Coins, Followers).

End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when the "Invasion" Hour Glass Tile is revealed. To win:
- All Common Objectives and Personal Objectives must be complete.
- If any objective is unfinished, the team loses.
No individual scoring—victory is shared!
Tips to Win
- Coordinate early: Assign roles based on Character Cards (e.g., the General should focus on Knights).
- Prioritize Fortified Towers: They’re required for victory and block enemy paths.
- Manage Events: Some Hour Glass Tiles (e.g., Arson) demand quick team decisions—plan reserves of Coins/Goods.
