Plums is a card game that transports you back to the 17th and 18th centuries, an era of science and detailed art. Inspired by the works of Maria Sibylla Merian, who depicted nature with precision, and with a nod to mathematician Leonard Euler (yes, they were related!), the game features illustrations aiming to revive that artistic style. The name, "Pi mal Pflaumen," is a play on the German expression "Pi mal Daumen" (meaning "more or less"), but here, instead of thumbs, the focus is on fruit.
In Plums, on each turn, you play a fruit card from your hand. Then, everyone bids to see who gets which of the played cards. The cards show fruits, of course, but some hold secrets: scoring patterns for collection (like having three identical apples or two pairs of pears) or special actions. Want to steal a card from an opponent? Or perhaps use the dog to protect yourself from theft? There are even π (Pi) cards that can boost your plays or be used in combos. The game lasts for three rounds, and at the end, whoever has fulfilled more contracts and accumulated the most points wins. It's a game with auction, open drafting, and set collection mechanics, perfect for those who enjoy strategic competition with a charming thematic touch and light weight, ideal for livening up a gathering.
