In Posthuman, humanity's quest for enhancement led to the creation of evolved successors who now deem human extinction inevitable. You play as one of the last human survivors, striving to reach a promised safe house in a world where nature is reclaiming the planet and your own genetically engineered offspring are hunting you down. Your perilous journey unfolds across ten zones on a modular board, ensuring a different layout every time you play. Along the way, you'll encounter other human survivors and, inevitably, the posthuman mutants. Each encounter with these beings can inflict scars, and the more scars you accumulate, the less human you become, gradually transforming into one of them. The core dilemma is: will you fight to cling to your humanity and reach the safe house, securing victory for your species? Or will the allure of mutation prove too strong, causing you to join the posthumans and deny salvation to the rest? The game blends dice rolling with role-playing elements, where each player possesses unique abilities, and team cooperation (or betrayal) can be crucial for survival. It's a race against time and against the very essence of humanity (or what's left of it).
With a solid rating on Ludopedia and a weight suggesting a deeper experience, Posthuman boasts a strong theme and mechanics promising replayability. The extensive language dependency is a factor to consider, but for those who enjoy survival narratives and moral dilemmas in a sci-fi setting, it can be quite an adventure.
