Power Grid: Warehouse, the three‑card mini‑expansion that arrived in 2010 as part of the Power Grid promotional set, adds an extra layer of strategy without complicating the experience. The idea is simple: you can store up to three resources of any type in your own warehouse, but those resources are locked until your power plants consume them – there’s no free discard. The twist lies in the two event cards that shake up the market: one removes three tokens of the cheapest resource and the other adds three tokens of the most expensive resource (the only exception is uranium, which can only have one token). When there’s a tie for cheapest or most expensive, the tie‑breaker order follows coal → oil → garbage → uranium. In gameplay terms, this means you can plan your plant purchases ahead of time, using resources you’ve already stored, and also take advantage of the market swings the event cards create. The expansion doesn’t change the auction or route‑building mechanics that already dominate the core of Power Grid, but it offers more timing and resource‑management options. For those who already master the base game, adding these three cards can bring a slight boost in strategic depth, but it doesn’t dramatically alter the overall balance. If you’re a collector, it’s worth grabbing the limited edition and seeing how resource storage can change your play style. If not, the base game is robust enough for hours of fun.
The complete set contains only three cards, so the cost is low and the learning curve is minimal. The expansion works with the same player count (2‑6) and keeps the game time around 120 minutes. If you love Power Grid and want something that fits perfectly into your expansion deck, Warehouse is a fun and practical choice.
