About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to explore the Forgotten City in Simurgh: Call of the Dragonlord! This modular expansion supercharges the base game with a brand-new board, introducing the lost metropolis setting and the challenge of uncovering the secrets of the Dragonlord Muratan. Now, your noble vassals gain a powerful reinforcement: the Wizard! This figure can be used alone or in conjunction with the new board, opening up a range of new strategies. Your wizards will slide along three distinct tracks, each promising power points and precious resources. But beware: reaching the Dragonlord's tomb first requires planning and smart management of your spellbook. In addition to more Action Tiles (Resource, Transformation, Exploration, Research, and Objective), the expansion introduces Leadership Tiles. These can be used with the new board or added to the base game separately, adding surprising mobility and allowing you to use unique abilities to turn the tide of the game. If you enjoy Simurgh and want more strategic depth and new ways to interact with the board, this expansion is a must-have!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Do I need the base game Simurgh to play this expansion?
Absolutely! Call of the Dragonlord is an expansion, so the base game Simurgh is essential to play.
Does this expansion change the rules significantly?
It adds a new board and a new type of piece (the Wizard), plus new action tiles. The complexity increases a bit, but the core worker placement and tile placement mechanics remain.
How much more playtime does this expansion add?
It can add about 15-30 minutes per player, depending on familiarity with the new mechanics and the group's pace.
Is the Wizard very powerful?
The Wizard offers new strategic options and resources, but its power depends on how you manage your spellbook and the tracks on the new board. It's an interesting addition that requires adaptation.
Can the Leadership tiles be used without the new board?
Yes! The Leadership tiles can be integrated into the base game without using the Forgotten City board, adding mobility and unique abilities.
Do I need to translate anything to play?
Yes, there is a moderate language dependency. It's recommended to have the cards and perhaps the board translated for a smoother experience.
