In *Sleepers*, you command a resistance network in German‑occupied France during World War II. The goal is simple yet execution is full of cunning: recruit operatives across the country, keep other networks from encroaching on yours, and if necessary, eliminate the competition. Agents start as “sleepers” – face‑down, inactive cards – and as the game progresses you awaken them to carry out covert missions. Each turn you can place terrain tiles, use bribe or blackmail cards, and move agents to form influence lines. The 61‑hex board offers multiple routes but also demands caution: if you run out of tiles or your agents are surrounded, defeat is inevitable. There are three ways to lose – morale (ten agents killed), capture (surrounded by militia), and attrition (no tiles or sleepers). Victory can come in three equally dramatic ways: connect two opposite sides of the board with active agents, build a doomsday device by lining up five active scientists, or simply eliminate all opponents. The memory mechanic tests your recall of agent locations, while the enclosure mechanic forces blocking decisions. The game blends abstract strategy, bluffing, and deduction into a tense, immersive experience that feels like a high‑stakes espionage game. If you enjoy deep strategy, mental time pressure, and putting your cunning to the test, *Sleepers* is for you. 280‑420 words.
