Game Objective

The objective of the game is to accumulate the maximum possible victory points, using the Wagons expansion. Players buy Wagons to score in various ways at the end of the game, such as for opponents' resources, completed station spaces, coal in their supply, and other specific conditions. The victory condition is to be the player with the most points at the end of the game.

Actions and How to Play

Buying Wagons

  • Wagons can be bought at any time using the Build action.
  • Players can have more than one Wagon.

Game Variants for Wagons

  • Easy Variant: Wagons score at the end of the game.
  • Hard Variant: For Wagons to score, the player must own a Train at the end of the game. Otherwise, they will not score.

Lagerplatz (Warehouse) Action

  • At the start of the Lagerplatz action, you can place a Worker (or your third paid Worker) on this tile.
  • Once placed, the Worker cannot be removed for the rest of the game.
  • If the Worker is on this tile at the end of the game, you gain 7 points.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends and scoring is calculated as follows, based on Wagons and other conditions:

Wagon Scoring

  • Gain 1 point for each resource cube still in OTHER players' supplies at the end of the game.
  • Gain 2 points for each Stone station space you have completed.
  • Gain 3 points for each excavation station space you have completed.
  • Gain 3 points for each Steel station space you have completed (track spaces in the future Darjeeling scenario also score with this Wagon).
  • Gain 2 points for each Coal in your supply – this score is in addition to the coal Contract Card bonus.

Other Scoring Conditions

  • Gain 7 points at the end of the game if a Worker is on the Lagerplatz (Warehouse) tile.
  • Gain 3 points for each Surveyor that is "further down" than your Surveyor; ignore Surveyors in the same station as yours (not used in the Blaenau Ffestiniog scenario).
  • Gain 6 points if you own the Start Player marker at the end of the game.
  • Gain 3 points for each Contract Card you have successfully completed.

The player with the highest total score is the winner.

Tips for Winning

  1. Consider the game variant: If playing the hard variant, make sure you have a Train at the end of the game for your Wagons to score.
  2. Monitor opponents' resources: A Wagon scores 1 point for each resource cube in other players' supplies. Pay attention to the resources they accumulate.
  3. Prioritize station spaces: Completing excavation and Steel station spaces yields 3 points each, while Stone spaces yield 2 points.
