Get ready for a food fight! In Splat!, the birthday party has gone terribly wrong, and now all that's left is to fling food at each other. The objective is simple: get your opponents as messy as possible with food, while dodging their culinary attacks. The more food that hits you, the messier you get, and in the end, the cleanest players consider themselves the winners (but really, everyone who has fun wins!).
The game revolves around three types of cards. Food Cards come in two colors: green, with generally beneficial powers, and red, with not-so-great effects. Each food card has a special power that can be activated when it's eaten or when it hits another player. Some powers are instant, like increasing your hand size, while others force you to attack everyone! Then there are the 'And Then...' cards, which are true event cards that can change the course of the battle at any moment. They act as interrupts, allowing you to catch food thrown at you and fling it back, or even dodge. This constant interaction creates hilarious and unpredictable moments. To top off the fun, there are Object Cards. If you position yourself in front of an object (like Uncle Harry or the Mirror) and manage to dodge an attack, the food hits the object instead of you. The thrower, in turn, might get scolded by the hosts, having to discard cards and eat food! Each player has a 'You' card with hit locations (head, arms, legs). If food hits an already messy spot, it replaces the previous mess. Oh, and there's the butler, Jeeves! You can throw food at him, or food that misses everyone might end up hitting him. When Jeeves is covered in food, he chases everyone out, ending the game. Splat! is pure chaotic fun and a great choice for those who enjoy light games with lots of interaction.
