About the game
In Splendor, you step into the shoes of an ambitious Renaissance merchant, diving headfirst into the captivating world of precious gems. Your main goal is to build a sprawling gem empire by acquiring mines, transportation, and shops to amass the most prestige points. And if you play your cards right, a noble might even grace you with a visit, giving your reputation that extra boost! The game is a strategic race where every turn is critical. You have three clear choices: collect gem tokens, buy and build a development card, or reserve a card to ensure it's yours (or to snag it from an opponent!).

When collecting tokens, you can either take three different colored gems or two of the same color. These tokens are your currency for purchasing development cards. Each card you buy not only adds to your permanent purchasing power (they grant a gem bonus for future acquisitions), but some also come with immediate prestige points. Reserving a card is a tactical move: you set it aside, face down, for later building. This costs you an action but rewards you with a wild gold token, which can be used as any gem. It's a clever play for planning combos or thwarting your rivals' schemes! The game concludes when someone reaches 15 prestige points, and the player with the highest score wins. Splendor is a fast-paced, addictive game with surprising strategic depth for its simplicity, perfect for those seeking an elegant challenge.
