Get ready for a clash of egos and diplomacy! In 1520, Kings Henry VIII of England and Francis I of France met for an epic event to show who had more wealth and power. This game, "The Field of the Cloth of Gold," recreates this luxurious and competitive celebration, where every gesture of friendship hides a strategic move.
You and your opponent will take turns performing actions that, while benefiting you, give your rival pieces they can use to score. It's a "give and take" game where you need to think twice: how do you maximize your points without giving your opponent too much advantage? Or even better, how do you force your opponent to score before you're ready?
With worker placement and set collection mechanics, the game is quick and straightforward, but with tactical twists reminiscent of classic 90s German games: simple on the surface, yet with a cruelly elegant depth. Every choice matters, and a smile can hide gritted teeth! The second edition even adds a new tile type to make things even more interesting. It's an intellectual duel for those who enjoy strategy with a historical touch and a dash of friendly rivalry.
