Too Many Bones: Splice & Dice is the expansion that gives a boost to the already beloved Too Many Bones game, bringing the possibility to create custom tyrants, new creatures, and encounters that demand fresh strategies. The heart of the expansion is the tyrant assembly system, where players combine monster cards, abilities, and bonuses to build unique characters that can be used both in the core game and in their own campaigns. To build your tyrant, you choose a “bone” (the monster’s body), add “heads” and “pieces” that bring special abilities, and then attach “bonuses” that improve its attack or defense power. This construction can be done during game sessions or before each match, allowing the team to test different combinations. Additionally, the pack introduces ready‑made tyrants, brand‑new encounters, and a “dual” monster type that merges attributes from two cards, forcing the group to rethink tactics and builds. Since the base game already featured cooperative play and dice rolling, the expansion keeps that vibe, reinforcing the need for communication and planning among the team. The components remain the same as the base: bone dice, PVC cards, and tokens, but with new pieces that add color and variety. Playtime can stretch from 60 to 180 minutes, depending on how many tyrants and encounters you decide to include. The complexity sits at a medium level, as the tyrant‑building mechanic requires focus, but the dice‑rolling dynamics stay accessible. If you enjoy a blend of fantasy, cooperative strategy, and dice, Splice & Dice will give your group an extra punch. If you prefer something more solitaire or without tyrant creation, it might not be the main focus. In short, the expansion adds depth and customization while keeping the original fun of Too Many Bones.
