How to Play Western Legends: Fistful of Extras

Game Objective

Western Legends: Fistful of Extras is an expansion that adds new elements to the base game, such as characters, objective cards, story cards, and items. The main objective remains the same: players take on the role of legends of the Old West, seeking to increase their fame and fortune through various actions. Refer to the manual for details on this section.

Setup

The game setup follows the same rules as the base game, with the following additions:

• Shuffle the new legend cards with the existing ones and deal two to each player.
• Shuffle the new story cards with the existing ones.
• Place the new items in the General Store.
• Shuffle the new poker cards into the poker deck.
• Place all the legend tokens in the provided cloth bag.

For the variant with bandit cards, apply the corresponding stickers to the bases or miniatures of the bandits. Shuffle the 6 bandit cards and place them near the combat deck.

The game flow follows the same structure as the base game, with the addition of the new cards and mechanics. Refer to the manual for details on this section.

Actions and How to Play

Joker Cards

The 2 new Joker cards function differently from the other poker cards. They have no numerical value in combat, games, or poker. Instead, players can use them as substitutes for another card in their hand, revealing them while keeping them for later use.

If a Joker is revealed on top of the deck during a poker game or played by the dealer, it assumes the suit and value that each player chooses—similar to the Cheat card.

Bandit Cards

When a player enters a space with a bandit, reveal the top card of the bandit deck. Refer to the number on the bandit's base to determine the card's effect. Each bandit card has one of four possible effects:

• Combat effect
• Additional reward
• Additional penalty
• Thematic quote (nothing happens)

Read the effect aloud and apply it to the combat, following the standard rules. The player who activates the story card or effect that generates the bandits chooses which bandits appear and in which hideout.
