About the game

What you do in a play session

In 1805: Sea of Glory, you are transported to the spring of 1805, a pivotal moment in the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon Bonaparte, with his army ready, dreams of invading Great Britain, but for that, his combined fleet of France and Spain needs to control the English Channel. On the other side, the powerful British Royal Navy, the island's only defense, stands ready to thwart this audacious plan. The game focuses on naval warfare at an operational level, going beyond the famous Battle of Trafalgar, and explores the importance of blockades and strategic maneuvers. You'll dive into a true cat-and-mouse game at sea, where pursuit, bluffing, and scarce resource management are essential. The Allied player (France and Spain) must constantly try to break blockades and form a combined fleet, while the British player worries about covering all escape routes and intercepting the enemy. The "fog of war" is beautifully simulated with blocks, representing fleets or squadrons, keeping the exact composition of enemy forces secret until engagement. Furthermore, the great naval commanders of the era, such as Nelson and Villeneuve, are present, each with their unique abilities that can change the tide of battle. The detailed map covers the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean, with an insert map for the West Indies, and weather plays a vital role, with storms and winds that can both aid and hinder your plans. The tactical combat system is fast-paced and rewards those who know how to use wind advantage and the right tactics to break the enemy line or escape.
