About the game
What you do in a play session
Ahau: Eclipse is the first official expansion for Ahau: Rulers of Yucatáns, delivering a thematic and mechanical boost that lifts the original experience. The box adds 14 Eclipse cards, 6 new role cards, 5 building tiles and 10 special pyramid tiles. Each Eclipse card depicts a mythic or cataclysmic event from the Classic Maya period, offering fresh scoring chances, resource conversion, unit summoning and strategic decisions each round. The extra role cards broaden the variety of positions players can assume, while the new building and pyramid pieces create more worker placement and tile‑placement options on the board. Area Majority/Influence remains central, but now there are more contested zones and new effects that can swing power quickly. Area movement and card‑play conflict resolution add dynamism, demanding careful hand management and turn planning. The solo mode also received tweaks, letting solo players tackle thematic challenges inspired by Eclipse events. Expect playtime between 90 and 180 minutes, depending on player count (1‑5) and rule familiarity. The expansion does not change the base game's complexity rating, but adds strategic layers that please both veterans and newcomers to the Maya world. If you enjoy city building, worker allocation and mythic settings, Ahau: Eclipse provides the extra push to make every game feel truly epic.
