About the game
What you do in a play session
The sky over Arborea darkens as a blighted force erupts from an ancient city, contaminating everything in its path. In Arborea: Corruption, the expansion for the beloved Arborea, you and up to four allies send workers down new tracks to cleanse the corruption threatening creatures and ecosystems. Each player can make offerings to the new Portal Sage, earning extra rewards for clearing corruption from shared sages. Additionally, powerful Majestic Creatures—unique, ancient beings—appear, ready to be added to your habitats for fresh synergies. The core rules of the base game stay the same; the expansion simply adds cards, tiles, and a new scoring system that includes negative points for letting corruption spread too far. The goal remains building a balanced ecosystem, but now you must constantly fend off decay, raising tension and the need for cooperation among villagers. Worker allocation gains extra depth with more paths and strategic options, while the resource market becomes more dynamic thanks to the Portal Sage offerings. Playtime runs 90‑120 minutes, perfect for 1‑5 players already familiar with the base game. If you love worker placement, ecosystem building, and a tasty extra challenge that tests teamwork, Arborea: Corruption delivers the right mix of drama and strategy without overcomplicating beloved mechanics.
