About the game

What you do in a play session

Brace yourself for another dive into cosmic horror with the Dunwich Horror expansion for Arkham Horror! This time, evil spreads to a sinister small town in the countryside, Dunwich, a dark place where unholy pacts are made and people disappear without a trace. But don't be fooled by its quiet appearance, as the Whateley farm harbors a horror that cries out for your help.

This massive box brings an arsenal of new features: 8 new investigators ready to face the unknown, 4 new Ancient Ones to challenge players' sanity, and a mountain of new cards – from items and spells to monsters and Mythos events. Exploration also gets an extra boost with 14 cards per location (instead of the original 7) and a new train board that takes you straight to Dunwich, adding 9 new locations and 2 outer worlds.

Dunwich Horror also introduces game-changing mechanics: now, when your stamina or sanity hits zero, you can choose between a permanent injury or madness, instead of losing items. Interdimensional gates are no longer permanently sealed, and Condition cards can provide that extra boost for everyone. And, of course, the Dunwich Horror itself, a formidable monster not comparable to the Ancient Ones, but a much greater challenge than any other common monster. This expansion also includes revised rules and an FAQ to polish the base game experience.
