About the game
What you do in a play session
Prepare for a cosmic nightmare with Arkham Horror: The Dunwich Horror (Herald)! This expansion adds the fearsome Dunwich Herald to your base Arkham Horror game, bringing unprecedented challenges and increasing the tension with every round. With this Herald, the Dunwich Horror track itself gains an initial token, and more tokens are added at crucial moments, intensifying the threat. The creature is considered a dimensional being with circle and moon symbols, affecting its movement and interactions. The dice rolling mechanic gains a more sinister twist, as the Dunwich Horror adds a doom token to the Ancient One's track on a 3-6 roll, instead of the usual 4-6. If the supreme Ancient One is Yog-Sothoth and he awakens with the Dunwich Horror in play, brace yourself for the worst: the Ancient One's combat modifier increases by 3 (to a terrifying -8), and he receives five extra doom tokens on his track, totaling 17! This expansion is perfect for existing Arkham Horror fans looking to delve deeper into the game's terror and complexity, testing their limits against ever-growing threats. Hand management and point-to-point movement remain crucial, but now with the added pressure of the Dunwich Herald. It's an intense cooperative gaming experience where communication and strategy are essential for survival against the horrors lurking in Arkham.
