About the game

What you do in a play session

If you are looking for a quick filler to spice up game night, Armadillo is the kind of game that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet requires a bit of strategy when deciding what to roll. The premise is simple: you start with ten cards numbered from 1 to 20, and your main goal is to get rid of all of them before your opponents do. To do this, you will use six colored dice, with each pair representing a different numerical range. The blue dice cover the low numbers (1-3), the yellow ones the middle (4-6), and the red ones the high (7-9). Each turn, you choose which dice you want to roll. If the sum matches a number on one of your cards, congratulations, you discard it! The funny twist is that if someone else at the table also has that number, they discard it too, making the game a chaotic, collective race.

But it's not just luck, mind you. The game gives you chips to give you more control over your destiny. If the roll result isn't exactly what you needed, you can spend these chips to adjust the dice value up or down. And if luck is really abandoning you, you can save up four chips to discard any card you want, which is a real lifesaver in critical moments. Oh, and since you gain chips whenever you fail to discard a card on your turn, the game has a nice catch-up mechanism that prevents anyone from getting stuck for too long. The round ends as soon as the first player empties their hand. Whoever is left with cards in hand accumulates penalty points, and the winner is the one with the lowest total after three rounds. It's a light, fast-paced game perfect for playing with friends who enjoy a dose of luck seasoned with quick tactical choices.
