About the game
What you do in a play session
Bärenpark: The Bad News Bears is the expansion that takes the bear park to a new level of chaos and creativity. It offers three independent modules that can also be mixed with the base game. The first module adds new goal cards that can be shuffled with the originals, expanding scoring options. The second module introduces grizzly bears, each occupying seven squares – a lot of space, right? To fit these giants, the expansion adds a fifth park section plus four new sections each equipped with an exit gate so visitors aren’t trapped. The third module brings skinny monorail tiles: they start at ten points and lose value each time you add another. Building a monorail requires placing tiles with pillars at the correct distance, then balancing the rail on them – after that, your bears can zip around the park. Open Drafting, Set Collection, and Tile Placement remain the core mechanics, while the 3D pieces and polyominoes give the board a tactile charm. In 30‑45 minutes for 2‑4 players, you’ll plan, adjust, and adapt your park, juggling the pressure of massive bears and slippery monorails. The expansion keeps a light weight (2.1/5) and high ratings (7.7 BGG, 9.1 Ludopedia), showing that extra pieces and rules can make the game more fun and challenging for fans of the original Bärenpark.
