About the game
What you do in a play session
If you already enjoy the tactical brawling of Battlecrest, get ready because the 'Hype' set is here to inject even more adrenaline into the Neververse. This expansion brings a grand finale to the 'Year One' cycle, introducing new heroes that drastically expand the variety of strategies available. If you've been looking for new ways to surprise your opponent, this set is exactly what you need.
For the solo gamers, Hype includes an AI sheet, allowing you to face these new combatants in solo duels (just a heads-up: you'll need the Imperator expansion to make this work). And if your gaming group is larger, things get even more exciting: you can now set up team-based matches for 3 to 4 players, turning the classic duel into a frantic team war.
For those new to the universe, Battlecrest is a card-based tactical skirmish game. It features perfect information, meaning there's no hidden luck—victory depends entirely on who can outsmart the opponent and dominate the map. Each character consists of a 6-card set (including health and actions), and the map is dynamic, built from 6 cards that change every match. You maneuver your hero, use action cards to attack or reposition, and as you spend your resources, you either pave the way for decisive strikes or need to refocus to regain powers. Since every hero has their own unique fighting style, no two battles ever feel the same. The Hype set is the final piece of the first year, setting the stage for 'Year Two', which promises new maps, playmats, and characters with entirely different tones. It's the perfect chance to beef up your collection before the next wave of updates!
