About the game
What you do in a play session
Tower Attack is the first substantial expansion for Battleground: Crossbows & Catapults, a knights‑versus‑orcs duel that was already fun on its own. This pack adds 36 new pieces – towers, catapults, crossbowmen and a few obstacles – that broaden the tactical options in each match. The goal stays the same: bring down the opponent's towers before yours fall, using a mix of dart throws, crossbow shots and catapult launches. Core rules remain unchanged, so players familiar with the base game can jump in without relearning anything. What does change are the placement choices and new ways to block or deflect attacks, making each game more unpredictable and demanding a keener eye on the opponent's moves. Like the original, playtime is quick – typically 20 to 30 minutes – and the learning curve stays low, perfect for those who want a fast‑paced, physical game without heavy bookkeeping. Components are solid, with sturdy plastic miniatures and well‑illustrated cardboard pieces. Keep in mind the expansion requires the base game; it cannot be played solo. If you enjoy intense two‑player duels with lots of piece movement and a light strategic flavor, Tower Attack provides a nice upgrade to your sessions. However, players seeking deeper systems or massive card variety might find it a bit shallow. Overall, it’s a solid add‑on that boosts replayability without inflating complexity.
