About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for Cantaloop: Book 1 – Breaking into Prison! Imagine a board game that throws you right into a classic point-and-click adventure, but without needing any screens. It's like holding an old-school video game in your hands, but in book format! You play as Oz "Hook" Carpenter, a small-time crook back from exile, seeking revenge on the person who banished him. However, your target is the city's top dog, and you can't take them on alone. To stand a chance, you'll need to assemble a team with unique skills.
The game immerses you in exploring 20 beautifully illustrated locations, talking to characters, and solving tricky puzzles to recruit your crew. The cool part is that you can go wherever you want, whenever you want (open world!), and there are always at least two puzzles to tackle simultaneously, minimizing the chance of getting stuck. The story unfolds across 3 parts, with a prologue available for download beforehand, all told through speech bubbles that encourage players to roleplay the scenes. And the best part: no components are destroyed! Just an easily copyable sheet. If you get stuck, there's a help system with up to two hints and the solution for any puzzle. Plus, those wacky item combinations you try? They almost always yield a funny response, just like in the old games. Expect about 6 to 10 hours of gameplay for this volume alone, or up to 30 for the entire trilogy!
