Hey, Carcassonne crew! Ready to spice up your games? Carcassonne: The Messengers is that little expansion that brings a cool twist: a second meeple for each player, stationed on the score track. The neat trick is that when you score, you get to choose which of your meeples advances. And the best part: if one of your meeples lands on one of those dark spaces on the score track (like 0, 5, 10...), and it's your turn, you draw a message tile. That's where the magic happens! You can choose between getting 2 extra points or using the tile's action. Imagine: scoring an incomplete road, city, or cloister as if the game had ended (but the meeple stays put, mind you!), gaining bonus points for banners in cities or for knights, or even for farmers! There's also the option to draw and play an extra tile, or simply return a follower to your supply. After choosing, the tile goes to the bottom of the stack. At the end of the game, the sum of points from your two meeples on the score track is what counts, and no more messages! It's a way to add more tactical decisions and a touch of memory and luck for those who already love classic Carcassonne.

Do I need the base Carcassonne game to play with The Messengers?
Yes, absolutely! This is an expansion, so you need the original Carcassonne game to use the new components and rules.
How many players does this expansion support?
It supports the same player count as the base game, from 2 to 6 players. It just adds an extra component for each player.
Does this expansion significantly increase the game's complexity?
No, the complexity remains quite low. The expansion adds a few extra decisions and a memory element, but the rules are easy to grasp.
What are the 'message tiles'?
These are special tiles you draw when your scoring meeple lands on a dark space on the score track. They offer options for extra scoring or special actions.
Does this expansion drastically change how Carcassonne is played?
It adds a tactical layer and a bit of memory, especially when deciding which meeple to advance and how to use the messages. However, the core essence of Carcassonne remains the same.
Is it worth it for casual Carcassonne players?
Yes! It's a light expansion that doesn't add much complexity but introduces interesting decisions that can make the game more dynamic.
