About the game

What you do in a play session

Hey folks! Ready to spice up your Carcassonne game a bit? The 'The Robbers' expansion introduces eight brand-new tiles featuring a robber symbol. When you draw one of these, besides placing it as usual, you position your special robber meeple (yes, an extra meeple is included!) on the score track, targeting any opponent. The twist is that whenever an opponent's score marker, accompanied by a robber, moves, the robber's owner advances their own score marker half that distance (rounded up) and removes the pesky robber. It's a neat twist that adds an extra layer of interaction and a touch of 'eye for an eye' to the competition. Imagine the satisfaction of seeing your opponent score points while you hitch a ride, gaining some extra points at their expense! Of course, if multiple score markers are on the same space with a robber, you get to choose who to 'rob' next. This mini-expansion, part of the series of smaller Carcassonne expansions, is perfect for those who enjoy the base game and want a bit more flavor without overcomplicating the rules. It's a fun way to add controlled chaos and ensure no one gets too comfortable in the lead. If you love Carcassonne and want a dash of cunning, this one's for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Do I need the base Carcassonne game to play with this expansion?
Yes, absolutely! 'The Robbers' is an expansion and only works in conjunction with the original Carcassonne game.
How many people can play with this expansion?
This expansion does not change the player count of the base game, which is typically for 2 to 6 players.
Does the expansion make the game more complicated?
Not significantly. The robber mechanic is quite simple to grasp and integrate into the game flow, maintaining Carcassonne's accessibility.
What comes in the box?
It includes 8 landscape tiles with the robber symbol and 1 special robber meeple for each player (or at least enough for the players using it).
Is this expansion good for someone new to Carcassonne?
Yes! It's a great way to add a bit more interaction and strategy without overwhelming new players with too many rules.
How much does it add to the playtime?
Generally, the playtime doesn't increase significantly. The mechanic is quick and adds a tactical element without prolonging the game too much.
