About the game

What you do in a play session

Gather 'round, folks! If you love drawing maps and diving into fantasy worlds, get ready for another adventure with Cartographers Map Pack 6: Hornhelm – Wasteland Market. This time, we're landing in a bustling desert marketplace where merchants from all corners of Ulos bring their wares. The twist here is that you'll not only be mapping a new territory but also boosting your skills by purchasing special gear from these traders. Think items that make your drawing faster or your maps incredibly accurate. Each player gets two sheets: one for drawing the map and another for managing market purchases. Throughout the seasons, you'll use merchant cards to see what's available and which items are on offer. Buying these items gives you in-game advantages and earns you extra points at the end. This pack adds an extra layer of strategy and management without overcomplicating things. It's an expansion that works with both the original (A Roll Player Tale) and the Heroes versions, keeping the essence of the game we already know and love. Perfect for those who want to spice up their Cartographers sessions!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Do I need the base Cartographers game to play this pack?
Yes! This is a map pack (expansion), so you need to have the base game 'Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale' or 'Cartographers Heroes' to use these new cards and maps.
How many players can enjoy this expansion?
Just like the base game, this pack is very flexible and works for 1 to 99 players! You can play solo or with a huge group.
Does the playtime change much with this pack?
It still stays around the 30 to 45-minute mark per game. The addition of the market might extend it slightly, but it doesn't stray too far from the norm.
Does the complexity increase significantly?
The complexity is quite light. The weight on BGG is 2 out of 5. The market mechanic adds an extra layer of decision-making, but it's very intuitive and doesn't stray too far from what's already expected from Cartographers.
What comes in this Map Pack 6?
It includes 150 double-sided map sheets, with one side for drawing and the other for the market, plus 6 merchant cards. A really cool addition for fans of the game!
Are the items bought at the market permanent?
Some items offer ongoing effects while you have them equipped, and all of them contribute to your final score. You track their use and points on your journal track.
