About the game
Prepare to relive one of the most bizarre clashes of World War II! In Castle Itter, you take on the role of a mixed-up defense force, comprised of American soldiers, Wehrmacht, French prisoners, an Austrian, and even a former SS officer, all united to defend a castle against an SS assault. The objective is to hold the castle from 4 AM to 4 PM on May 5, 1945, until the enemy card deck is depleted. Each turn is a race against time: you have five actions to utilize your defenders in attacks, maneuvers, or special actions, and then you must deal with the three incoming SS attack cards. The game uses an action point system to manage your defenders, dice rolls to resolve combat, and events that bring unexpected twists. Point-to-point movement on the castle map and the siege simulation create constant tension. It's a challenging solo game that demands tactical planning and a bit of luck to survive the onslaught. Victory is measured by your final score, based on surviving defenders and the enemies you managed to hold back. A quick and tense game, perfect for those who enjoy wargames with a unique historical twist and an intense solo experience.
