About the game
What you do in a play session
Catan Scenarios: Helpers of Catan is a mini‑expansion that arrives as a set of ten character cards, all compatible with the base game and the Seafarers and 5‑6 player expansions. Each card grants a special power that can be used once or twice before being traded for another card, creating a cycle of choice and renewal that adds strategy to Catan's classic "place‑and‑trade" core. For instance, Marianne's card lets you take any one resource when the dice roll is not a 7 and you received no resources from that roll, giving you a way to smooth out a bad roll. When you build your second settlement you receive a card based on turn order – the later you go, the stronger the card, helping to balance early‑player advantage. The Variable Player Powers mechanic means every game feels different, as the mix of cards each player holds changes negotiation and building dynamics. The only components are the cards, so the box is compact and the learning curve is tiny: just read the short text on each power and decide when to fire it. Playtime usually lands between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the number of players (3‑6) and familiarity with Catan rules. If you already enjoy trading resources, planning settlements, and want a dash of extra variety without over‑complicating things, Helpers of Catan slots in as a fun extra layer that blends seamlessly with the main game's flow.

No, it works with the base game, but it’s also compatible with Seafarers and the 5‑6 player expansion if you already own them.

Usually between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on player count and familiarity with the rules.
What components are included?
Ten character cards, each with a special ability; no extra boards or pieces are needed.
