About the game
What you do in a play session
Celebrities is a super popular public domain game, perfect for livening up any party with a large group! The concept is simple: each player writes down celebrity names (or anything else, if you want to vary it!) on small pieces of paper. All names go into a container, and players are divided into teams. The goal is to get your teammate to guess the name on the paper, but the way you give clues changes each round, increasing the fun and challenge!
In the first round, you can give as many clues as you like, as long as you don't say the exact name. If your partner guesses correctly, the paper is kept; if not, it goes back into the container. Each player has a limited time (usually 30 seconds) to try and guess as many names as possible. After all names are guessed, the team scores points for their correct answers. For the second round, the difficulty increases: clues are limited to just ONE word, plus sounds or charades. And in the third and final round, communication is purely non-verbal – only charades and sounds, no words at all! The team with the highest total score at the end of the three rounds is the big winner. Celebrities is known by various informal names, such as Salad Bowl or Fish Bowl, and has spawned famous commercial versions like Time's Up! and Monikers, showing how this simple idea is a guaranteed hit.
