In Chartagon: Discoveries, you step into the role of an expedition leader, charting the mysterious Chartagon archipelago. The goal is to expand your presence across the map by establishing ranger posts and building research stations. As new discoveries emerge over time, the competition heats up: you need to be the first to claim valuable knowledge, all while trying to block your rivals' routes through forests, mountains, waterways, and open plains. Each turn involves a simple yet impactful strategic decision: you place a single marker to either expand your network of influence or found a research station. Research stations, by the way, are crucial, as they require support from nearby posts to operate and, in return, reward players with discovery or opportunity cards – or even both! The ever-changing card display on the board creates dynamic priorities, forcing you to decide whether to race for current discoveries, secure territory for future research, or, of course, interfere with your opponents' plans. To spice things up even further, periodic storms reshape the landscape, removing frontier posts and introducing new scoring opportunities. When the exploration deck is exhausted, winter arrives, ending the expedition, and each player gets one final turn to make a difference. In the end, whoever has documented the greatest knowledge of Chartagon, by tallying points from discoveries, opportunities, and other scoring cards, will be the grand winner!
