About the game
Chicken is a fun spin on the classic L.L.A.M.A., adding a dash of agility and dice strategy. Instead of eight cards of each type, you get seven, making the game tighter and faster—great for 2 to 5 players. The goal is simple: be the first to hit 50 points, up from the usual 40. The biggest twist is a single ‘wild’ card that can be played as a card higher than the current top, but when scoring, it equals the value of the last played card—adding a wild card of a different sort. With no score tokens, each player tracks their own score, giving it a DIY charm. Once all cards are played, the player rolls two dice with values 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10. The total is subtracted from their score, but it can never go below zero. This dice mechanic adds a risk‑reward element that keeps every game surprising. Components are minimal: colored cards, two dice, and a homemade score tracker. The learning curve is shallow, but the mix of card play, dice rolls, and timing the ‘wild’ can lead to 30‑45 minute sessions depending on player count. If you love quick card games with a dash of randomness, Chicken is a solid pick—perfect for group play and lighthearted competition.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a typical game of Chicken last?
Games last between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on player count and group pace. With five players, it can reach close to 45 minutes.
What components are needed?
Colored cards (7 of each type), two dice (values 1,2,3,4,5,10) and a DIY score tracker (any notebook, tokens, or object that can record points).
How does the ‘wild’ card work?
The wild card can be played as if it were the highest card currently on the table. When scoring, its value equals the last card played, not the maximum possible value.
Do I need official score tokens?
No. Each player keeps their own score record, so any method that tracks points works.
What happens when a player rolls the dice after playing all cards?
The player subtracts the total of the two dice from their score, but the score can never drop below zero.
Is the game suitable for 2 players?
Yes, though the dynamic becomes more intense with more players. With two players, the game is shorter and the competition more direct.
