Ever felt that tension when you need to play the perfect card to 'crush' your opponent's move? That's exactly what Chimera & More is all about. In reality, it's not just one game, but a package containing two distinct experiences: one tailored for 3 players and another for 5. If you've enjoyed classics like Tichu, The Great Dalmuti, or Big Two, you'll feel right at home, as the core is based on climbing and shedding mechanics.
In the 3-player mode, the dynamic is intense: it's a 'two against one' duel. Through bidding, one player takes on the role of the Chimera, while the other two become the Chimera Hunters. The Hunters' goal is to take down the Chimera, while the Chimera tries to survive and score. In the 5-player version, things get more complex and strategic. We still have the Chimera, but now they can choose a partner (the Pi Ya) via a bidding system, creating a two-versus-three alliance.
The heart of the game lies in hand management and the ability to predict what others are holding. You must know when to spend your power cards to dominate the round or save them for the critical moment. Scoring typically goes up to 400 points, though players can adjust this for quicker sessions or epic marathons. It's the kind of game that starts calmly and ends with everyone shouting at the table while trying to figure out who the secret partner is or who will manage to shed their last card first. If you're looking for a card game with tactical depth that maintains the agility of a traditional deck game, this is the way to go.
