About the game
What you do in a play session
Colt Express: Bandits – Django is the sixth and most explosive of the Bandits expansions, turning the game itself into a programmed bandit opponent. Each playthrough introduces a new goal and a set of exclusive actions for the bot, which can actually win and make all players lose. The ultimate aim still belongs to the richest outlaw, so cooperation against the bot must be strategic yet treacherous. In the Django version, the villain has a thing for dynamite. At the start of every round he drops dynamite in the carriage he occupies and has an explosion action that detonates all dynamite on the train. Any bandit inside or on the roof of an exploding carriage is ejected, hands over his Wanted token to Django, and must spend his next action boarding again. If Django collects every Wanted token, he wins the game.
The Action Queue mechanic remains the core: players secretly program their cards, reveal them simultaneously, and resolve them in a fixed order, creating tension and prediction opportunities. Hand Management appears when choosing which cards to keep for the next round and which to discard, while Memory helps remember where dynamite was placed and which actions remain. Components are the same as the base game – bandit minis, paper/card carriages, dynamite and Wanted tokens – but the expansion adds new cards, Django tokens, and explosion markers. Playtime runs 30‑60 minutes for 2‑5 players, with a low complexity (weight 2/5), making it approachable for newcomers and veterans alike. If you love trains, the Wild West, and a dash of controlled chaos, Django adds an extra layer of cooperative strategy against an unstoppable foe without sacrificing the frantic fun that made Colt Express a classic.
