About the game
What you do in a play session
In Costa Ruana, you step into the shoes of a tribal chief locked in a fierce competition for pirate treasures! The goal is straightforward: amass more riches than your rivals by the end of the fifth round. To achieve this, you'll need to dispatch your natives to strategic islands, aiming for majority control to secure treasure collection. Cards are your primary tools: they allow you to move treasures, position natives on islands, bring them back to your reserve, or even relocate them between islands. Each round introduces an engaging dynamic: everyone plays one card face-up in front of any player, followed by another, face-down. To spice things up further, you can place a native on any played card – even a hidden one belonging to an opponent – to copy its effect! The Shaman of the round, chosen randomly, determines which card colors will be resolved, dictating the flow of events and influencing who benefits. If you're the Shaman, use your power wisely; otherwise, try to anticipate plays, bluff, and influence the Shaman in your favor. Remember to keep an eye on your opponents' treasures and manage your natives carefully, as every point counts. Prepare for a game of cunning, bluffing, and plenty of interaction!
