About the game
Coup: Speculator Promo is a special edition of the classic bluffing and manipulation game, where the Speculator card replaces the Duke. The Speculator introduces a new betting mechanic: you can take coins from the treasury up to double what you already have, but you cannot exceed five. If someone challenges your role and fails, all the coins you intended to gain are returned, and the challenger takes the rest of your coins, plus one influence. The Speculator also blocks Foreign Aid, just like the Duke, and, when paired with the Reformation expansion, the Embezzlement action excludes the Speculator instead of the Duke. This promo was exclusive to the Kickstarter edition of One Night Revolution and comes with five Speculator cards, a complete six-card Coup deck, and a rule reference card. Playing with the Speculator adds an extra layer of tension, as you must decide when to use the maximum bet and when to protect yourself from challenges. It’s a light expansion that keeps Coup’s fast pace while introducing new risk‑reward strategies, perfect for fans of political bluffing in short games.
