About the game
What you do in a play session
The *Library at Celaeno Map* expansion brings a fresh scenario to the already epic *Cthulhu Wars*. Set in the colossal alien structure of the Hyades, the map features two iconic figures: the Librarian and the Custodian. Players start with spellbooks, but the main goal is to build Gates that grant extra powers in the form of additional spellbooks. However, managing these books is crucial: if you lose control of a Special Collection, the book becomes overdue and the terrifying Librarian begins to haunt you. The Custodian, on the other hand, cleans chambers by moving units to the Oubliette—a space that, over the course of the game, tends to fill with enemy troops, sparking unexpected clashes. The Librarian can only be activated when a player has an overdue book, but it can deal significant damage; the good news is that returning the book mitigates the threat, though not entirely. The expansion also introduces Silence tokens, which trigger special actions, including moving the Custodian, the Librarian, and activating unique library books. Mechanics such as Action Points, Area Movement, Dice Rolling, and Variable Player Powers combine to create a tense, strategic experience where every choice can lead to victory or cosmic disaster. If you love horror, miniatures, and strategic decisions with a Lovecraftian twist, *Library at Celaeno Map* will keep you glued to the table for nearly 90 minutes of pure adrenaline and terror.
