About the game
What you do in a play session
The Yuggoth Map expansion injects a fresh dose of cosmic madness into Cthulhu Wars by adding three new board areas, each wielding a unique power that can swing the tide in your favor—or against you. First up is the Slime Sea; the faction that holds its overlook can summon Slime Mold monsters, solid mid‑level units. The twist is that these molds obey whoever controls the overlook, so if an opponent captures it, they instantly take command of any Slime Molds you’ve already summoned. The second area, the Laboratory, lets you transform your Cultists into Brain Cylinders. These cylinders keep generating Power but can’t move or fight on their own; they must be carried. If a cylinder is “dropped,” the other side can capture it and claim its Power. The third area, the Green Pyramid, houses the dreaded Brain of Yuggoth, granting powerful bonuses to its controller. However, each Cleanup Phase the Pyramid’s controller must check whether the Watcher of the Green Pyramid has awakened. The Watcher, a particularly loathsome Great Old One, destroys all units on the pyramid and then marches along a fixed path around the map, wreaking havoc everywhere. This unique figure adds a constant risk, forcing players to weigh the benefits of holding the pyramid. Mechanically the expansion retains Action Points, Area Movement, Dice Rolling and Variable Player Powers, but introduces fresh strategic layers tied to the control of these special zones. Playtime stays around 90 minutes, perfect for 2‑4 players already comfortable with the base game. If you love horror themes, detailed miniatures, and tactical decisions that can flip in an instant, Yuggoth Map is a solid upgrade that raises tension and fun to the next level.
