About the game
What you do in a play session
Defenders of the Realm: Hero Expansion #2 brings four new heroes, each with its own miniature and character card, plus six global effect cards that integrate with the base game. The heroes – Healer, Druid, Elf Lord, and Monk – introduce distinct mechanics that blend with those already present in the core set. Healer, for instance, can heal up to three wounds per turn and automatically heals all heroes at the end of her turn, while Druid excels in green areas, summoning forest creatures to attack enemies. Elf Lord eases movement across green locations and can re-roll dice, and Monk masters martial arts, delivering devastating blows and defending with equal skill.
The expansion preserves the core cooperative feel, with players working together to defeat the General and halt the invasion of orcs and demons. The Action Points system remains, allowing each hero to perform strategic actions within a limited turn. Hand Management adds depth, requiring players to carefully choose which cards to use each phase. Detailed miniatures enhance visual immersion and the sense of miniature combat.
For those who already own the base game, the expansion offers new strategic possibilities and replayability, as heroes can be combined in unpredictable ways. The learning curve stays moderate, as the rules are natural extensions of the original set. Ideal for 1 to 4 players who enjoy fantasy, adventure, and combat themes, this expansion raises engagement and delivers hours of cooperative fun.
