About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a new wave of chaos in Terrinoth! "Visions of Dawn" introduces the menace of trolls and ogres, monsters traditionally so consumed by mutual hatred that they left the rest of the world in peace. But now, that peace is shattered! A sinister alliance has united these beasts, and it's up to you to decide which side you'll join: will you lead this monstrous horde on a campaign of destruction, or will you stand with the few brave heroes who dare to face them?

This expansion not only injects an extra dose of danger with new quests like "Trucebreaker" and "Visions of Dawn" itself, but also brings ten plastic creature miniatures previously only available in the first edition of Descent. If you enjoy the Overlord role, you'll love commanding ogres, trolls, and even manticores. For the heroes, four new adventurers enter the fray: Master Thorn, Nara the Fang, Ispher, and Sir Valadir, each with their unique abilities to try and stem the tide of destruction.

With mechanics involving action points, dice rolling, grid movement, and hand management, the gameplay remains true to the spirit of Descent, but with renewed challenges. The modular board ensures each quest looks visually different, and team-based play, whether as united heroes or a relentless Overlord, is key to victory. If you're already a fan of the series and want more content to expand your adventures, "Visions of Dawn" is a treat for those not afraid to face giant monsters and epic battles.
