About the game
What you do in a play session
If you're already a fan of Detective: City of Angels and love that extra touch only a promotional item can give, get ready! This special pack, which debuted at Gen Con 2019, brings two brand-new cards to boost your investigations in 1940s Los Angeles. We're talking about an additional Grift card, dubbed 'Convention', and an extra Favor card, 'Gentle Connie - Confidence Woman'.
These additions are perfect for those looking to expand the possibilities and replayability of the base game. The 'Convention' Grift card can introduce new twists or unexpected challenges into your cases, forcing you to think outside the box and use your detective skills in different ways. Meanwhile, 'Gentle Connie - Confidence Woman' as a Favor card can offer new opportunities for character interaction or obtaining crucial information, depending on how you utilize her in your investigation strategies.
Both cards integrate seamlessly into the game's flow, adding more depth and variety to your Detective: City of Angels sessions. They are a treat for those who enjoy exploring all the nuances of the game and for those who want a little more spice in their crime and mystery stories. It's like finding a new testimony or a hidden secret clue, ready to change the course of your investigation. If the base game already captivated you, with these cards, the immersion becomes even greater!

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
What are the Detective: City of Angels – Gen Con 2019 Promo Cards?
These are two exclusive promotional cards (one 'Convention' Grift card and one 'Gentle Connie - Confidence Woman' Favor card) that were distributed at Gen Con 2019 to be added to the Detective: City of Angels base game.
Do I need the Detective: City of Angels base game to use these cards?
Yes, absolutely! This is a promotional expansion pack and cannot be played independently. You need the Detective: City of Angels base game to integrate and use these cards.
What is the impact of these cards on the gameplay experience?
They add more variety and replayability to the base game, introducing new 'Grift' (scheme/trick) and 'Favor' (help/benefit) options, which can lead to new strategies, story twists, and different paths to solve cases.
Do these cards add a lot of playtime?
Not directly. They integrate into existing mechanics and might add a bit more depth to choices, but they don't significantly increase the duration of a Detective: City of Angels game, which already ranges from 30 to 150 minutes.
Who are these cards best suited for?
They are perfect for dedicated fans of Detective: City of Angels who have already explored the base game and are looking to expand their options, add more flavor to their investigations, and own exclusive collectible items.
Is there a language dependency for these cards?
Yes, like most components in Detective: City of Angels, the cards have text that needs to be understood to be used. A near-complete translation is necessary for those who are not proficient in English.
