Discordia places you in the shoes of a Roman governor tasked with turning a modest military outpost into a thriving metropolis along the Rhine. You must balance building farms, barracks, defenses, harbors, and markets while managing resources, fulfilling decrees, and securing privileges that boost income. Tension comes from Germanic tribes that raid periodically and the need to keep the city growing at a controlled pace—neither too fast to overextend nor too slow to miss opportunities. Players use action cards and dice to decide which projects to construct and when to send merchants or soldiers. Victory can be achieved in two ways: reaching the development goal at the end of the fourth year or impressing Empress Agrippina before then, ending the game by sudden death. Discordia blends urban planning, economics, and defense in a pace that keeps all four players engaged and competitive. It offers strategic depth without being overly complex, ideal for those who enjoy historical themes and building resilient civilizations.
