Get your cauldron ready because the Black Flame Candle has been lit! If you're a fan of the 1993 classic 'Hocus Pocus,' this game is a direct dive into the Sanderson sisters' chaos. The goal is purely cooperative: you and your friends must work together to ruin the witches' potion three times before sunrise. If you fail, evil will be free to roam the world!
The gameplay is fast-paced and relies heavily on information exchange between players. Each person holds a hand of ingredients in various colors and types. The real challenge is figuring out what others are holding without revealing everything at once. Each turn, you ask a strategic question—such as 'who has the blue ingredient?' or 'who has newt saliva?'—to try and complete the perfect pattern in the cauldron. If you manage to match all types or all colors, congrats: you've stunned one of the witches!
But it's not all smooth sailing. The game features elements that can disrupt your plans, like Binx the cat, who might force you to reveal your hand to everyone, or the mysterious spell books that trigger unexpected events from the spell deck. To help your mission, there are 'Tricks' based on iconic movie scenes, which can be used once per game to save the group from an imminent disaster. It's a quick, fun, and perfect game for gathering friends for a themed Halloween night, without any unnecessary complexity and full of nostalgia.
