About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready to dive into Doom Realm, a solo roll-and-write game that throws you into a dark and dangerous fantasy world. To start this adventure, you just need to print the rule and adventure sheets, plus have 4 standard six-sided dice and a good old pencil handy. The mission in each game is clear: find and defeat the six enemies scattered throughout the realm.
The gameplay is quite straightforward: you roll the four dice and decide where to allocate each of them in four distinct areas on your adventure sheet: Movement, Enemies, Treasures, and Locations. Allocation is crucial! One die will help you explore the map, allowing you to 'color in' hexes and move to new areas. When you get close to a location with an enemy, you can attempt combat and secure the treasure it guards. Another die is dedicated to enemies; you can use it to increase their health or the damage they deal. Think carefully, as your enemies get stronger as the game progresses, and you need to balance this with how valuable the treasure you seek is. A third die is used to boost treasures, increasing the loot with useful items like swords and shields, but beware, as sometimes the path to riches brings traps. Finally, the fourth die serves to strengthen locations, which increases the available gold and the power of the enemy residing there. Whenever a star is marked on the location tracker, an enemy becomes more dangerous. It's a constant challenge of risk management and reward, where each roll can bring you closer to victory or throw you back into darkness.
