About the game
You know that relaxing feeling of putting together a puzzle where everything fits perfectly? Dorfromantik: The Duel takes all the vibes of the original game — a massive success and a Spiel des Jahres winner — and transforms the cooperative experience into a friendly competition. Now, instead of working together to create the perfect landscape, you and your opponent compete to see who can build the most beautiful and efficient scenery.

The core dynamic remains the placement of hexagonal tiles, but with a twist: each player expands their own landscape using the revealed tiles. The challenge here is balancing the expansion of your territory with those demanding (but rewarding) villager quests. To spice things up, the game introduces new types of assignments, such as double and all-around assignments, requiring sharper planning to avoid falling behind.

If you find the base game too chill, 'The Duel' features two independent modules that inject more interaction and challenge into the table. Want more? Some of the special tiles from this set can even be integrated into Dorfromantik: The Board Game, allowing you to boost the cooperative experience with new elements. Whether playing individually against a friend or splitting into teams, the goal is the same: master the art of tile placement and create the most charming village possible. It's the perfect game for those who want something strategic without ending the session in a heated argument, keeping that 'healthy rivalry' atmosphere.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the base game to play The Duel?
Nope! It's a standalone game. You don't need Dorfromantik: The Board Game to enjoy the competition.
How long does a game last?
Usually between 30 and 45 minutes, making it great for a quick session before bed or during a break.
Is it very complex to learn?
Not at all! If you know the original, you'll learn it in 2 minutes. If you're new to the series, the rules are very friendly and intuitive.
Can more than two people play?
Yes, but you'll need two copies of the game to play in teams of two (totaling 4 people).
Is it highly strategic or more relaxing?
It's right in the middle. There's planning and space optimization, but it keeps the zen vibe of the franchise.
Does the language affect gameplay?
Hardly. There is very little text and it's easy to memorize, so the language barrier is irrelevant.
