About the game
Double Side Play is a trick-taking game that gives a playful twist to the classic format. Each card carries two numbers: one black and one white, and these two values differ by exactly six units (e.g., 1 and 7). When the game starts, players must follow suit—if possible—and at the same time think about which of the two number sets will dominate the round. In the first six tricks, the black numbers are in play; once they finish, the white numbers take over for the next six. The goal isn’t just to win the tricks but also to meet the bids each player receives at the start. Each player gets a list of bids, and the objective is to hit one of those options twice. If someone accomplishes that, they leave the game, but they only win when all other players have been eliminated or when the final bid is met. The game keeps tension high: with each round the scenario changes, and you must decide whether to sacrifice a card to secure the next win or to conserve resources for the final phases. The traditional trick-taking mechanic mixes with a memory and forecasting challenge, as you need to remember which numbers have been played and the probability of your opponent having cards that match your strategy. Additionally, the six-point difference between numbers creates patterns that can be exploited: if you know your opponent has a 3 black, they might try using the 9 white to flip the game in their favor. In short, Double Side Play is a game that blends the familiarity of trick-taking with the novelty of two values per card, demanding attention, calculation, and a bit of luck. Ideal for groups of three to four players, it delivers short rounds—about 20 minutes—yet with plenty of variation and guaranteed replays.
