Imagine that the benevolent Dragon King Myrgos has passed away, leaving a power vacuum and a coveted title: the Draco Magi. To claim this position, you and your rival, both apprentices, must decipher a succession scroll. The catch? To activate the scroll's spell, you need rare gems, and the only way to get them is by sending your dragons to battlefields where the fighting is fierce.
In the game, each player takes on the role of a mage commanding a deck of diverse dragons. You'll have chromatic dragons (such as Red and Black) and metallic ones (like Gold and Silver), along with special units like the Polar Dragon. Each creature possesses its own strengths, weaknesses, and unique abilities. The gameplay unfolds in rounds where you deploy your dragons across various battlefields. If you're quick and strategic, you can launch ranged attacks the moment you play a card, attempting to knock out the opponent before the main fight even begins.
However, the real tension peaks during the melee phase. Here, the game utilizes an attack and counter-attack system based on battle cards, where deduction and bluffing are essential. You don't just fight; you also upgrade your battle deck as you progress, creating lethal combos to secure victory. The player who controls the majority of dragons in a battlefield wins the gem. In the event of a tie, the struggle continues into the next round.
It's a fast-paced game with a strong thematic core, blending area control with the satisfaction of efficient deck building. If you enjoy tactical duels where a single mistake can leave you with the humiliating title of 'Forever a Novice', Draco Magi is for you. Ready your dragons, manage your hand, and try not to fall for your opponent's bluff!
